Host a Fundraiser or Donation Drive.
Want to rally your coworkers, school, or neighborhood for a great cause? Hosting a donation drive or a third-party fundraiser is an incredible way to support SAFE on Main! Whether you collect our most-needed items (like gift cards or daily essentials) or host a benefit event, your efforts directly support safety and healing in our community.
Before you get started, please email volunteer@safeonmain.org so we can share our current priority list and promotional materials to help make your event a success!
Steps to Host a Drive:

Choose Your Focus
Decide the impact you want to make. Successful events usually have a specific goal:
Financial Fundraiser: Raising funds gives our team the greatest flexibility to pivot instantly and meet client needs as they arise.
Urgent Needs Drive: Collect the critical items our clients need right now to stabilize their lives (e.g., grocery/gas gift cards and toiletries).
Constant Essentials Drive: Help us restock the everyday staples that keep our shelters and outreach programs running smoothly (e.g., heavy-duty trash bags, paper products, laundry detergent).

Plan Your Event
A little coordination goes a long way. Before you launch, lock down these simple details:
Set a Timeline: Give your community plenty of time to participate. A 2-week window is usually the sweet spot for a successful drive.
Pick a High-Traffic Spot: If collecting physical goods, set up a central, highly visible drop-off location with a clearly labeled, sturdy bin.
Set a Goal: People love rallying behind a target! (e.g., "Our goal is to collect 50 gas gift cards" or "We want to raise $1,000 for crisis relief.")

Connect with Us
Let us help! Reach out to our staff for our current needs and marketing assistance:
Connect with Us: Email our team at volunteer@safeonmain.org to register your drive. We can verify our most up-to-date list of urgent needs and ensure your items can be accepted seamlessly.
Use Our Name Safely: When promoting your event, please use our full name: SAFE on Main. We can help with marketing.
Share, Share, Share: Use email, flyers, and social media to explain why you are hosting this drive. Remind your donors that even small gifts—like a $25 grocery card—provide immense dignity and independence to a family in transition.

Drop off
Once your event wraps up, it’s time to bring your collective impact to our doors:
Schedule Your Drop-Off: To ensure we have staff available to greet you, assist with unloading, and properly log your donation, please contact us ahead of time to coordinate a drop-off window.
Share Your Success: Take a photo of your group or your collection bin! We love celebrating our community champions and will highlight you on our social media pages (with your permission, of course).
