School-Based Programming

Programs to help students build healthy relationships and connect with trusted adults.

Schools are a primary social hub for children and adolescents.

By integrating prevention programs into the school day, we are ensuring every student has access to a safe adult connection, to building social-emotional intelligence, to recognizing the signs of unhealthy and healthy relationships, and to increasing protective factors that promote safety. Review the school-based programs illustration to see the breadth of services we deliver to schools all across Warren County.

SAFE on Main’s Power Programs are drawn from evidence-based curricula, Safe Dates and Expect Respect. There are intersections between the curricula and the Ohio Department of Education’s Learning Standards at both the grade and content-area levels.

Power

High School

The HS POWER program provides a prevention approach to teen dating violence and sexual abuse. Through scenarios and discussion-driven presentations, students learn about healthy and abusive dating relationships, the causes and consequences of dating abuse, and sexual violence. Students will also become better equipped with skills to develop healthy dating relationships, nurture strong support systems, and find safe ways to intervene and get help for themselves or others.  This four-day presentation is drawn from the evidence-based curriculum Safe Dates.

Junior High/Middle

The JH/MS POWER program lays a vital foundation for youth by teaching the core principles of respect, boundaries, and healthy communication. Through interactive, discussion-driven presentations, students learn to recognize the difference between healthy and abusive behaviors, understand the consequences of dating violence, and build skills to support their peers. Drawn from the evidence-based Safe Dates curriculum, this three-day program equips students to navigate relationships safely and confidently.

Power Plus

Building on the foundations of our core curriculum, Power Plus offers specialized, standalone presentations that dive deeper into specific topics supporting the themes of our JH and HS POWER programs. These sessions give schools the flexibility to address targeted needs while strengthening a culture of safety and respect.  Topics include Human Trafficking, Digital Safety, and Bystander Intervention.

Youth Engagement Project

SAFE on Main's Youth Engagement Project (YEP) was created to engage students interested in volunteering their time to prevention efforts for domestic violence, sexual violence, and teen dating violence.

Youth Engagement Projects are available to students in Warren County through a tiered system that includes classroom and individual projects, volunteer opportunities, and student internships, which vary based on the student's availability and level of commitment.
